I have a tendency to get so fixated on something, that I forget everything else… I wish I could just hit the “pause” button of life long enough to catch my breath and get caught up on the places I’ve fallen behind… to NOT have to make another meal until the all clutter is gone and stop the world from turning just to get the laundry done would be AMAAAAAAAAZING…
I know I’ve been guilty of setting aside the people in my life in order to get something done. As a result, and while being focused can be great quality, I’ve created emotional clutter for wasting time with things that didn’t matter to me as much as the people in my life.
So much of the clutter people carry in life has to do with missed opportunities and regretful moments so, as you get serious about removing the clutter in your home, make sure you’re not missing out on the things that are even more important than getting your house in order. The clutter will be there tomorrow (trust me… the cleaning fairy isn’t real… I’m sorry to let you down). Don’t allow yourself to get so consumed by your goal, that you forget what’s truly important.
Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins (it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others). 1 Peter 4:8
While you work on removing the clutter from your life, don’t create more by putting the relationships in your life on hold. The moments we live out with loved ones will always outweigh the ones we wish we had. STOP to say “I love you” to your children… STOP to make love to your husband… STOP to love yourself… and STOP to show love to those who matter in your life… because LOVE covers the clutter.
When do you find it most difficult to stop what you’re doing to spend time with loved ones? Don’t get so focused on clearing out the physical clutter in your home, that you create internal clutter (guilt, regret, stress, etc) by missing out on moments with loved ones. How can you create more moments with the people that matter in your life? Schedule some time on your calendar to do something special this week with someone you love.
